Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Are you aware of the "Spirit Cove at Kanuga" Special Use Permit application pending before the Henderson County Zoning Board of Adjustment to change zoning on Evans Road from Residential to Commercial? See this area map and other information on this site for details.
Kanuga Conferences has applied for a Special Use Permit for land on Evans Road, near the entrance of Kanuga Ridge Road, changing the zoning on a 4.76 acre tract from Residential (R2) to Commercial. Overall, they intend to develop approximately 16 Acres and build a 4,032 square foot commercial building with a number of houses and other buildings to accommodate 15 dogs with pasture for 4 horses. The intent is to build a mental health therapy facility in a purely residential area zoned entirely R40 and R2R. This facility proposes to treat thousands of people per year who are dealing with various forms of mental disorders including PTSD, work related stress and substance abuse.
A group of your neighbors have organized to defeat the commercial rezoning petition. We met with Kanuga and Spirit Cove and our suggestions on how to modify their plans to make it more palatable to the community were rejected. So, we will work to defeat the rezoning. We will need the community's help in this effort. If you are interested in joining please review the information on this website, http://KeepEvansRoadRural.org, and take the actions listed on the Get Involved page.
Thank you,
Your Friends and Neighbors along Evans Road
